The Music of David Gates and Bread
David Gates of the group Bread has one of the gifted souls that ever graced the music industry. His voice is indeed, a must-hear one as it simply takes away the stress of the day and even soothes your aching heart.
Along with David, I would like to also commemorate his band members in Bread –
*Jimmy Griffin – Guitar and Vocals; born 1943, died in 2005 due to cancer
* Robb Royer – On Guitar, Bass and Vocals; left the band after 3 albums in 1972
* Mike Botts – Drums, born in 1944, died in 2005 due to cancer
* Larry Knechtel – On Keyboards, Bass, Guitar, Harmonica,
for producing wonderful sounds and music. Bread started in 1967 and has actually produced 13 albums.
I’ve listed here some of their unforgettable songs which I continue to play… =)
1. Belonging
2. Lost Without Your Love
3. Diary
4. Take Me, I’ll follow
5. Never Let Her Go
6. Goodbye Girl
7. Everything I own
8. Make it With You
9. Baby I’m a Want You
10. Find me
What’s your favorite song of Bread?

Hi Anna, like you I’m a fan of Bread and David Gates in particular and had the pleasure of seeing him play live in London a few years ago. He was flanked by two young guitarists and wearing his cowboy hat and they produced that Bread sound perfectly and it was a privilege to be there. I must admit it brought a tear to my eye to listen to such perfection – superb ! There are so many of his songs that I could have as my favourite, apart from the hits – I love Sail Around The World, Friends & Lovers,London Bridge, Dismal Day but I think my choice would be Look At Me -I love it. It was a real treat when he released Find Me, not so long ago, which goes to prove that he can still write those beautiful soft love songs that he brought to our attention all those years ago.I hope he comes over to England pretty soon because we’d love to see him again and listen to his songs that will last forever.
