Would You Make a Difference?
For most people, uttering the words like “I lay my life for you” is easier to be said than done. However, this may be true for those who are of our flesh and blood. Do you believe that laying a person’s life is something that only heroes can do? I certainly not! We can all be heroes in one way or the other, though.
Mass deaths in wars are not yet over. And the battle within our self and standing still in the midst of storm still continues. I’ve known a friend, Raine for more than a year now but never got the chance to talk to her about all her hardships until one email from her.
Last month, I received an email from her asking for prayers for her daughter, Maree – she is sick with Atrial Septal Defect, (ASD). What amaze me is that she never asked for something big –just prayers. She has been a constant contributor of WikiMusicGuide and her petition has reached the administration of the site. Then, the birth of Maree Fund campaign started airing to WikiMusicGuide. Webbyshop and Magazine Subscriptions sites on June 20, 2008.
The Maree Fund is the program initiated for the benefit of a six year-old child, Jerthrude Maree Sarmiento who was diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect in 2004 and desperately needs surgery immediately. The objective is to raise $5,000 in 30days. The end of the campaign is merely coming and we can say that it has been successful as the donations and prayers are kept pouring in.
Just like every woman who long to cuddle a baby on their arms, Raine is also a mother who would like to continue embracing her growing child and seeing her in fulfilling her dreams. She’s also an ordinary person who would lay her life for the people she loves. Choosing to be a good mom is like loving the heartache she feels each time she looks at her child in misery.
I asked myself, can I make a difference? An opportunity to make a difference in my life always comes in these packages. I see people needing help but the irony of it is that they’re even helping me more to realize how much I can do.
I’ve been touched with Raine and Maree’s courage and WikiMusicGuide, WebbyShop and Magazine Subscriptions’ sincerest intentions to help. The campaign is not yet ended. Just like Raine, we’re hoping for your prayers and little donations that can make a huge difference on the life of this six year old child.
May I quote from someone “We are given this rare opportunity to work for something noble. For a moment, we can give meaning to our lives…” Let’s spread this chance to others – that can absolutely create more difference.
