Paula Abdul: Straight Up to a New Single
‘Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow.’
This is Paula Abdul’s brand new single which premiered at Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show last Friday, January 18. The radio show was actually like a meeting of American Idol regulars, with Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson guesting in the show, and Simon Cowell briefly speaking over the phone from England.
Abdul’s new single will come out on the upcoming album dubbed as Randy Jackson’s Music Club Vol. 1. Along with Abdul, the Music Club will include Mariah Carey, Joss Stone, Travis Tritt, Richie Sambora, American Idol season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee and AI season five’s third-place finalist Elliot Yamin. The album will be released March 11 by Grammy-winning producer Jackson.
Seacrest named the debut as ‘an historical moment,’ while Jackson said of the song premiere as a ‘big moment.’ “It just seemed the right time,” Abdul said of creating the new record, given that her last single was released in 1993. “The timing just came together.”
Paula became popular during the ‘80s with her string of hits including ‘Straight Up,’ ‘Forever Your Girl’ and ‘Rush Rush’ among others. Paula along with Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson is one of the three judges for high rating reality show American Idol.
Fox announced that they will air Abdul’s new music video of ‘Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow’ during the Super Bowl XLII pregame. She will be performing as a part of the Super Bowl XLII halftime show.
