On October 2, the most favorite coffee shop in the world will be giving away 50 million digital songs to its customers to promote a new wireless iTunes music service.
Each day, baristas of every Starbucks local store will be giving out 1.5 Million songs that would feature “song of the day”. The songs can be redeemed at Apple’s Inc.’s iTunes store.
Bob Dylan’s song, “Joker Man” will pilot the giveaways while other songs from known artists will come along the way. Songs from Paul McCartney and Joni Mitchell, Annie Lennox, Band of Horses, John Mayer, Joss Stone and Dave Matthews will surely hit your iPods in an instant.
On the very same day, the largest coffee shop chain will also formally start the selling of digital release cards from iTune that will let the consumers buy a full album of music with an added bonus to be downloaded online. In addition, Starbucks will also offer a limited-reloadable purchasing card which includes two free iTunes downloads when customers register their cards online.
The Starbucks new digital service will launch at 600 Starbucks shops in Seattle and New York on Oct. 2, then roll out in San Francisco in the first week of November.
