Big Japan. An indie rock band from Los Angeles, Big Japan is Nathanial Castro on vocals and guitar and Brad Babinski on bass. Actor Adam Brody plays drums for the band, together with co-actor Bret Harrison on guitar. The band performs from time to time, given the two’s acting schedules. Their first band name was Steven’s Team, named after the movie The Cable Guy.

Wicked Wisdom. Originally formed as a Neo-Soul/R&B/Funk fusion band, Wicked Wisdom turned out to be an alternative metal band, performing as opening acts and touring Ozzfest in 2005. Jada Pinkertt-Smith is the vocalist for this metal group. Indeed, music’s in the family. Will’s got rap, Jada’s got metal.

30 Seconds to Mars. The band has won at the MTV Video Music Awards and released two albums, one of which went platinum. Jared Leto is lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the band, which also includes his brother Shannon. They began the band in 1998 as a small family project.

BoomKat. Another sibling tandem mingling with electronica and pop music, BoomKat is brother-sister duo Kellin and Taryn Manning. Taryn Manning has appeared in a couple of movies and on TV, including Boston Public, CSI:Miami, Hustle & Flow and as Eminem’s ex-girlfriend in 8 Mile.

The Sharks. This Rock ‘n Roll and Country-Soul band has been playing in front of crowds of people gathering enthusiastic reviews. Dennis Quaid is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the band. The actor, who wrote songs for several of his movies, has been involved in music for many years.

The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. A jazz band from Los Angeles, two of its members are onscreen performers as well. Jeff Goldblum plays jazz piano and sings along with fellow actor Peter Weller (Robocop, Buckaroo Banzai) who sometimes sits in on the horn. Lincoln Adler, a jazz musician, plays sax with the group.

Thunderbox. The blues band Thunderbox has played onstage and record with some of the finest blues musicians including Rock Burton, Léon Russel, TaJ Mahal, and Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. They have also toured with members of the legendary rock group The Band. Steven Seagal plays guitar for the band, who has released two individual albums and written several songs for his movies.

Lt Dan Band. The band tours for the USO and performs on a regular basis for troops stationed around the world and for charity events. Lt. Dan Band was formed by Chicago composer Kimo Williams and actor/musician Gary Sinise. The band was named for the character Sinise played in the movie “Forrest Gump.”

Band From TV. Celebrities from TV’s top shows banding together, literally. Heroes star Greg Grunberg initiate Band From TV as a project for charity. Band from TV is James Denton (Desperate Housewives) on guitar, British actor Hugh Laurie (House) on piano, and Bob Guiney (The Bachelor) on lead vocal. Grunberg plays the drums for the band. The band has recorded two songs for the House soundtrack.
