I’m in the mood for making lists lately, so here I am making another one. From musicians whose lives and careers have earned movie adaptations, here’s another with actors having their share on the band stage. I read a few weeks ago about Toni Colette and her band The Finish, which totes up to her already impressive talent as an actress, starring in films such as The Sixth Sense, In Her Shoes alongside Cameron Diaz and indie film Little Miss Sunshine. I didn’t think Toni Colette can actually be a rock star, until I read how she wowed audiences in her performances. Her band crew include Glenn Richards of Augie March and her husband David Galafassi. Toni Colette and The Finish just drew worldwide attention performing on the Australian leg of the ‘Live Earth’ concert last July 7 at the Aussie Stadium.

Here’s the first of two parts, starting from the band name to the actor in the band, to give you a little guessing. (:

Dogstar. Dogstar is an alternative-pop, post-grunge band with Rob Mailhouse in drums and Bret Domrose in guitar and vocals, with certainly the most popular bassist around, Keanu Reeves. Reeves was a former member of this band, and is now currently playing with Beckyband.

Phantom Planet. Everybody knows Phantom Planet, but not everyone knows the band member who’s the nephew of Francis Ford Copolla. He has his part in the acting business majoring on the genre of comedy. Jason Schwartzman, the band’s drummer, broke out into the movie industry with his clever portrayal of nerd Max Fischer in Rushmore. He also starred in Bewitched and Shopgirl alongside Clare Danes and Steve Martin.

Juliette and the Licks. The star’s the lead singer as well, mingling with punk rock to be exact. She once upon a time dated Brad Pitt and earned Academy Award nominations for her striking performances. Juliette Lewis’ band lived in 2003, playing at concerts and supporting the likes of Foo Fighters alongside Queens of Stone Age and Motorhead. She was once dubbed by Blender magazine as one of the hottest women in rock music.

30 Odd Foot of Grunts. 30 Odd Foot of Grunts has quite a few albums under its belt. The Gladiator, Cinderella Man and A Beautiful Mind’s Russell Crowe plays lead guitar and lead vocals for the band. Hollywood actor Crowe is in the company of actors spiraling to music in between roles. He later named the band The Ordinary Fear of God.

The Bacon Brothers. The duo, formed in the 1990s, has released a few albums and performs in several concerts each year. Kevin Bacon teamed up with his composer brother and tried his hand in the music business. The brothers have appeared alongside Shania Twain and Wyclef Jean.

Watch out for the second of two parts with some surprising and amusing entries on the list.(:
